Welcome
to the Adenau region
The mountainous Eifel region is perfect for relaxation and quiet contemplation. It’s lush and green, and covered with endless forests and luscious meadows. Together with the neighbouring Ardennes, it is considered the ‘green lung’ of Europe. The Eifel mountain range is one of the oldest in the world, originating around 400 million years ago. What’s left from the giant mountains of primeval times, most of which were around 6,000 metres high, is a low mountain range with Hohe Acht mountain as its highest peak at 747 metres above sea level. |
In the Eifel region, every season has its own charm: blooming forests and meadows in the spring, luminous gorse and the gold of the Eifel in the summer, a multitude of woodland colours in the autumn, and beautiful white snow in the winter. Explore this region and discover its history. Wherever you go, you will come across tranquil towns, peaceful villages, warm hospitality, fresh air and restful quietude. And wherever you look you can stop off for some welcome refreshment, be it in a rural inn or a top-class restaurant. |
The 1000-year-old town of Adenau with its picturesque timbered houses and the historic Buttermarkt district is situated in the heart of the region. Not far from there, around the summits of Nürburg and Hohe Acht, the Nürburgring attracts motorsports fans with its electrifying races. |
