Cycling

The Hocheifel region is a mecca for cyclists with a sporting ambition, as the constant change between challenging climbs and speedy descents and the mix of many different sections can be truly breathtaking in more senses than one. The Ahrradweg cycle track is a little more laid-back. It meanders its way from the spring in Blankenheim to the estuary between the Barbarossa town Sinzig and the Kripp district of the town of Remagen.

E-bikes

Since 2011 the town of Adenau has been offering the chance to hire two e-bikes from RWE Germany. In the past few years, a large cycle path network in the Eifel region has been developed, taking you through river valleys and along disused railway lines. But the Eifel region is and always will be a low mountain range, and so climbs cannot be avoided. With an e-bike everyone gets the opportunity to explore the charming landscape of the Eifel region by bike. In addition to the e-bikes, three batteries can be recharged for free at the charging station. The bikes can be hired from Radsport Breuer in Adenau, in der Ex 1. Telephone: +49(0)2691/1078
At the tourist information centre Hocheifel-Nürburgring in Adenau you can also charge up e-bike batteries using a socket during opening times.

Vulkanradroute

Volcano Cycle Route Eifel Region (67 km)

The Volcano Cycle Route Eifel Region starts near Dümpelfeld and takes you through the 1000-year-old little town of Adenau all the way up to the Nürburgring.

The route leads from the Nürburgring via Kelberg, Ulmen and Bad Bertrich to the Mosel valley to Alf on paved roads that are used by farmers.
Only a few short sections are gravelled.

Trekking bikes, mountain bikes and touring bikes are suitable for this demanding route, racing bikes less so.

It is a transregional long-distance cycle track that connects the valleys of the rivers Ahr and Mosel, promising an unforgettable experience in the countryside.

Ahr-Radweg

Ahr cycle track (77 km)

Breathtaking panoramas, little historic towns and vibrant wine-producing villages invite you to enjoy a delightful cycle tour through the Ahrtal valley.

On this tour, nature lovers can experience the diversity of the Ahrtal valley, the deep tributary valley of the Rhine.

From the starting point at Blankenheim, the place where the river Ahr originates, you cycle for 17 kilometres to Ahrdorf, passing nine bridge structures. Then you continue past Dorsel and Müsch to Antweiler. In Antweiler you can view the historic grain mill.
You have to use the road along the 5 kilometres from Fuchshofen to Schuld. At the weekends, there is usually quite a lot of traffic there.
The tour takes you through the heart of the Ahrtal valley, to the world-famous red wine producing region by the river Ahr.

In Ahrweiler, don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Roman villa there.
Then you continue through the spa town of Bad Neuenahr to Bad Bodendorf. The fabulous finale of this beautiful tour is the view of the Ahr estuary, the only estuary into the Rhine that’s protected by nature conservation regulations.
