The upper Ahrtal valley

from Dorsel to Dümpelfeld

Die Ahr

Originalgröße
The river Ahr originates in the historic town centre of Blankenheim. For 89 km it meanders through the Ahrtal valley before it flows into the Rhine near the Barbarossa town Sinzig.
In the Adenau region along the river Ahr you will find the towns of Dorsel, Müsch, Antweiler, Fuchshofen, Schuld, Insul and Dümpelfeld.
The fascinating landscape there is characterised by rugged rock, dense woodland, hills and gentle wetland meadows.

The Princess Margaretha route shows hikers the natural beauty along and above the river Ahr.
The upper Ahrtal also has plenty of culinary offerings. Almost every town has places to eat and stay the night. From hotels to campsites, there will be something for everyone.
You can find historic mills along the river all the way to Dümpelfeld, accompanying the themed hiking trail ‘On the tracks of old mills’.
